“I was always trying to find ways to get my girls to train off the ice the way hockey players should with little success until I met Dr. Chad Moreau. I first met Dr. Moreau when he was presenting at the Roger Neilson coaching clinic in Windsor, Ontario. He was giving a presentation on off-ice training for hockey players when he said, “through training for hockey you will get a great beach body and it will make you a better hockey player.” This slogan has become the thing I most frequently say when training my players off the ice. The biggest fear my girls have when it comes to weight lifting is they are scared they will get huge muscles and will not be attractive. Now before we start talking about off-ice training at the start of the season I ask the girls to raise their arms if they would do an off-ice training program if it would give them a better beach body. Every girl always raises her hand. I then say awesome because the program we are going to give you girls will give you better beach body while making you a better hockey player at the same time.

From the time I met Dr. Moreau we have been using HockeyOT. Along with being the head coach for the UMass women’s hockey team I am also the strength and conditioning coach. HockeyOT is awesome because it gives me the strength and conditioning tests to conduct and I can input the results for each individual athlete. It then designs a strength and conditioning program that is specific to each individual athlete. I can show my athletes how to perform each test and then if they need a refresher on the specifics of each exercise they can watch the videos and read the descriptions of each exercise on the HockeyOT site.

HockeyOT has saved me so much time over the last few years and I would recommend it to hockey players at any level. It has helped give our team including myself, “better beach bodies while making us better hockey players!”
